Week 3 Blog Post
This post is from a big Electric Vehicle manufacturer announcing a new vehicle available in a specific region of the world. They are trying to remain relevance with the new “slang” and trends by starting the post with “New Paint who dis”. In “140 Characters” by Dom Sagolla he states “Learn to recognize when you’ve found your audience. They will begin to respond regularly. They will repurpose your words. They will start asking for more.” I believe this is what the company did by aiming to post something this is currently a trend.
The post then goes on to state where the vehicle was made and the new regions it is available in. It separates each of the two statements with periods and is no more than eleven words. It is short and very to the point. “Be short, blunt, vigorous, concise.” - Dom Sagolla.
Although this post was not necessarily the most professional with the obvious misspelling of the word “this”, I do believe they accomplished what they were aiming to do which was make an announcement that will click with the trendy target market they have. The 81,895 likes this post alone gathered is a demonstration of the success this post had.
This post is from an individual who is wishing his mother a happy birthday through a post on social media. They are expressing their sincere love and care for their mother through this post however, it does include many errors. It is missing punctuation and is grammatically incorrect in many places confusing “your” and “you’re”. Writing in this manner, even though a personal post, can create bad habits for other social media uses in the future. It can create bad habits that may carry on to the workplace.
Through this post I notice the importance of being grammatically aware. This profile is available for anyone to investigate including future employers. The post has a nice message at heart but was not executed in the best manner. Paul Henderson states in Technical Communication, “Keep in mind also that employers use social media to learn more about job applicants.”
